Siemens electronics manufacturer of Germany opened an office in Guiyang, capital of southwestern Guizhou Province, Monday to increase its market share in power development in western China.
As a major energy and natural resource base in China, Guizhou province plays a vital role in China's economic development, especially in the West-to-East Electricity Transmission Project, a major project in the drive to boost growth of western China.
Siemens will provide wide-ranging services to Guizhou province with its strength, said Schmidt Siegfried, deputy executive chairman of the Siemens Ltd. China.
Currently, Siemens is providing power transmission equipment for Guangdong province, as well as complete sets of low-voltage switchgear at Suofengying Hydroelectric Power Station and auxiliary equipment at the Qianbei (northern Guizhou) Thermal Power Plant.
Moreover, Siemens is ready to play a bigger role in helping Guizhou to promote the growth of its tobacco, brewery, mining and bio-pharmacy industries. Establishment of the office in Guizhou was an important measure the company had taken to realize its goal, Siegfried acknowledged.
Siemens, which has so far opened 34 regional offices across China, with eight located in western China, including Chengdu, Hohhot, Urumqi, Xi'an, Chongqing, Nanning and Guiyang, is planning to increase the number of its resident offices on the Chinese mainland to 60 in the near future.
