Recently US TV media replayed a video showing a US marine shooting an injured and apparently unarmed Iraqi prisoner at a Fallujah mosque when reporting US all-out attack on Fallujah. Showing the video is a fearsome sight for the modern civilization, causing strong reaction from the Arab world and the clamor of the international public opinion. The US military decided that the marine who shot the man was removed from the field and returned to headquarters for legal investigation.
What the US military has done will really implement strict military discipline? However Iraqi ordinary people have their own views. Firstly during US offensive on Fallujan US marines had mopping-up operations and searched all places including every household, hospital and school, having batches of civilians injured and died. After their military operations the US military only released a report telling the casualties of US army and the anti-US armed forces without saying anything about the humanist misfortune it brought. Secondly the US military is practicing old tactics by looking for a scapegoat for covering the war disaster US made in Fallujah. It naturally reminds people of the fact that the US military only sent several lower military personnel to the court to get rid of the prisoners' abuse scandal at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison. The Pentagon now is having the old practice to cover more shameful war crimes
The US military wants to punish one or two soldiers to put down or allay the external criticism and the Iraqi indignation. But this practice to evade the crucial point cannot be accepted by the public opinion in the world including Iraq's. The whole facts concerning the war-torn Iraqi people are requested to make public.
