China's state broadcast and TV regulators have introduced a bold long-term digital television development plan, vowing to spread the digital satellite network to every corner of the country by 2015, CCTV reported Tuesday.
Digital TV technology will make it possible for TV viewers to watch high-definition TV pictures, equal in quality to DVDs, and enjoy audio effects now available only in theaters. More channel choices will also be provided.
The traditional television set will be turned into a multi-functional media receiver, meeting various demands of users.
China launched its cable TV network plan in 2003, and will start digital satellite services in 2005. By the year 2008, digital technologies will be introduced to most parts of the country.
