December 15 marks the 13 birth anniversary of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant - China's first nuclear power plant. During the 13 years Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant has safely generated electricity of 23.7 billion kilowatt-hours, about 7 million tons of coal equivalent. It has established a safe, clean and efficient image for nuclear power.

In order to run the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant well the Qinshang Nuclear Power Company has, during the 13 years, strived to draw on management experience of overseas nuclear power plants and gradually improve the management level of the plant with the support of society. It has set the record of safe operation for 331 and 443 consecutive days respectively for the No.6 and No.7 fuel cycles. The Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant continues to maintain its sound operation and its current fuel cycle has been operating for 384 consecutive days.

He Xiaojian, manager-general of the Qinshan Nuclear Power Company, said the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant has mastered the nuclear power technology, accumulated plenty of experience and trained lots of nuclear power talents during the 13 years of commercial operation. It has made great contribution to the development of China's nuclear power construction.
