The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has named a mix of experience and youth into its national women's squad for next month's four-nation football tournament.
The squad is composed of 29 players, seven of whom are on the national youth team that finished runner-up last month at the Under-19 Women's World Championship in Bangkok.
They will gather from next week in a training camp in Qingyuan,Guangdong province, to gear up for the annual event slated for Jan.28-Feb. 1 in coastal Fujian province.
Germany, who demolished China 8-0 at this summer's Olympic Games, Australia and Russia are also to compete at the tournament.
Wang Haiming, tipped as a favorite for the head coach of the national team, will take charge of the team in the training camp, said Zhang Jianqiang, a CFA official.
CFA is now seeking a "qualified" man to replace former coach Zhang Haitao who quit following China's humiliating exit from the Athens Games. Tony DiCicco, who coached the United States to the Women's World Cup title in 1999, has also been reportedly linked to CFA.
