Chinese President Hu Jintao (R) shakes hands with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz during a meeting in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Dec. 16, 2004.
Chinese President Hu Jintao told visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz that China will further enhance anti-terrorism cooperation with Pakistan and jointly fight against the "three forces" in the region.

Hu made the remarks during their meeting in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing Thursday afternoon. The "three forces" are terrorism, extremism and separatism.

"Terrorism has posed a grave threat to regional and world peace and stability," he said, "China and Pakistan have been deeply harmed by it."

"The Chinese government is in firm opposition to terrorism in all forms and appreciates Pakistan's preventive measures in safeguarding the security of Chinese personnel and institutions in Pakistan," Hu said.

Aziz arrived in Beijing Tuesday night for a five-day official visit to the country. It is his first visit to China since he became Prime Minister in August.

Hu said it's China's unswerving policy to consolidate Sino-Pakistani friendship and develop their "comprehensive cooperative partnership."

"The policy will never change no matter how the international situation changes," he said.

"China and Pakistan should further tap potential, expand the scope of cooperation and upgrade the level of cooperation, enrich and consolidate bilateral ties," the Chinese president said.

Aziz said he appreciated China's economic and social achievement as well as China's support and aid for Pakistan, speaking highly of China's contribution to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.

Pakistan and China have had sound anti-terrorism cooperation, the prime minister acknowledged. "Pakistan will never allow anyone to conduct terrorist activities against foreign countries on its territory and will spare no efforts in safeguarding the security of Chinese companies and their personnel in Pakistan."
