Car bomb blast injures 5 US soldiers, 1 Iraqi civilian

A car bomb explosion in northern Iraq injured five US soldiers and one Iraqi civilian, the military said Tuesday.

The blast took place near Hawija, west of the northern oil cityof Kirkuk at 11:15 a.m. (0815GMT) on Monday when the five soldiersfrom the Task Force Danger were traveling aboard a Humvee jeep.

The injured solders were evacuated to a US military hospital and are in stable condition.

A suspected insurgent was detained on the spot.
