British Prime Minister Tony Blair will arrive on Wednesday in the West Bank town of Ramallah to meet with Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) chairman Mahmoud Abbas and other officials of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).
Palestinian official sources said that the Palestinian leaders would discuss with Blair the current situation in the Palestinian territories and the coming elections.
The sources said that the Palestinian officials would urge Blair to put pressure on the Israeli government to implement the roadmap plan.
They are also expected to inform Blair that the Palestinian leadership would never accept the Israeli unilateral disengagement plan as an alternative to the roadmap.
"We want the unilateral Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and northern West Bank to be part of the roadmap plan and not to be an alternate to it," said the sources.
The two sides will also discuss the planned international conference on the Mideast which was called by Blair and scheduled for February 2005 in London.
Israel Radio reported that the conference would focus on supporting the PNA and the reform of PNA institutions.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced that Israel doesn't oppose holding the conference, but Israel will not participate because it is not a political conference.
Palestinian Minister for Foreign Affairs Nabil Shaath told reporters in Ramallah that the Palestinians would ask Blair to give further details about the international conference.
"We are favorable to any conference that will help the Palestinian people and will support the peace process based on... full implementation of that road map," said Shaath.
