After winning the three-point competition during the break, veteran guard Jiang Xu scored 18 out of her 20 points to lead the North Team to a 120-109 victory over the South Team at the Women's All-Star game of the Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) in east China's Wuxi on December 26.

The 31-year-old from Jilin Aohua scored the competition-high 21 points in the final match-up against Lin Shaohong from Fujian Tailaoshan to win her first 3-point crown.

She buried 4-out-of-5 shots from behind the arc in the second half to turn a 10-point deficit to a 86-84 lead to enter the fourth quarter for the North Team.

Bayi's forward Sui Feifei, who had the highest votes from the fans, scored seven points of her game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter, but failed to take the lead back for the South Team when her opponents scored at will after the come-back.

Seven North Team players had double-digit numbers with Miao Lijie of Heilongjiang having 18 and Beijing's Zhang Fan scoring 17.

Wuxi native player Bian Lan had 20 points for the South Team.

"I didn't play hard at the beginning of the game because I thought this game is just for fun," Sui Feifei said. "But when I saw we were down by that much, I really wanted to win the game. I'd tried, but it's a little bit late."

Jiang, the top 3-pointers last season, was named the Most Valuable Player of the game. She said she didn't expect to win both rewards in the All-Star weekend.

"Maybe the 3-point competition during the break helped me to play well in the second half. My teammates made me open and I buried the shots. That's the secret," Jiang said.
