Donations of Chinese people from all walks of life to the tsunami-hit south and southeast Asian countries have increased to 124.83 million yuan (15.09 million US dollars) by 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the special office coordinating non-governmental donations to the disaster-stricken countries under the Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA).

The donations were collected by Red Cross Society of China, China Charity Foundation and their local operations.

According to a MCA emergency notice released on Jan. 1, RCSC, CCF and their local operations as well as civil affairs departments at various levels are responsible for receiving donations.
