Proposal for 3G policy expectable this yearWang Xudong, Chinese Information Minister, made the remarks at a national conference for the information industry that his department would put forward proposals for the country's 3G strategy "at proper time" this year. Wang said the policy would follow the principle of nurturing the market and propping up the development. In their consideration of an overall planning, the market access policy is supposed to facilitate the improvement of policy of operation, charging and supervision, the establishment of a level playing field through further reform and the promotion of the whole industrial chain. China has made positive progress on R&D and industrialization of 3G technologies. The Ministry of Information Industry has launched the worldĄŻs ever largest 3G testing which proved to be successful. 7 application platforms and nearly 300 base stations have been in place in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. They makes up a test field for products based on the three standards from six major domestic basic telecommunication operators, together with 34 system and terminals producers from home and abroad, have their products in the three standards tested there.
