Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is ready to join the six-party nuclear talks, said a US congressional delegation on Friday that visited Pyongyang earlier this week.

The US delegation, headed by Curt Weldon, vice-chairman of the Armed Services Committee of the House of Representatives, said this in a press conference at the South Korean Ministry of ForeignAffairs and Trade on Friday.

The US Congressional delegation also said in the news conference the six-party nuclear talks will be resumed in a "matter of weeks."

The six-way nuclear talks aimed to resolve the nuclear issue onthe Korean Peninsula peacefully have been stalled since last September. The scheduled fourth round of the multilateral talks have been delayed.

The US delegates arrived in Seoul earlier Friday after three-day visit to Pyongyang from Tuesday to Thursday.

Before leaving South Korean on Saturday, the delegates will meet South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon, Unification Minister Chung Dong-young and Defense minister Yoon Kwang-ung.
