China and Ukraine are friendly countries, and China respects the choice of Ukrainian people, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan Thursday while commenting on a decision of the Ukrainian Supreme Court.

Kong told a regular press conference that China attaches great importance on the all-round relationship of friendly cooperation with Ukraine, which features long-term stability, deep trust and coordination.

He said China is willing to consolidate the traditional friendship with Ukraine based on mutual respect, equality and reciprocity, and to promote cooperation in all fields so as to bring benefits to the two peoples.
