China is to ensure the success of program for sending a satellite to orbit the moon before the end of 2007, said Sun Zhuanglong, spokesman and secretary-general of the Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense at a press conference for working conference of the commission held in Beijing on Jan 22.

According to Sun, China's national defense industry is to stress works in five aspects in 2004. One of the works is to organize and implement the program for sending a satellite to orbit the moon and manned space flight, including: research and development of the "Shenzhou VI" spaceship and its carrier rocket. Guided by the principle "high standard, high quality and high efficiency" initiated by Premier Wen Jiabao, the commission will ensure the program for sending a satellite to orbit the moon successful before the end of 2007 through well organization and research.

The moon exploration project, the first stage of the "Chang'er I" program had been made in full swing in 2004. The development of the preliminary sample satellites has begun. The research of satellite and effective load of satellite, carrier rocket, launch pad, control and observation, land application have been carried out.

China's national defense industry is facing heavy but glorious tasks. Aside from the program for sending satellite to orbit the moon and manned space flight, the industry will concentrate on the following tasks:

Carrying out the scientific concept of development in an all-out manner. Carrying forward sustainable development of the national defense industry under guidance of the scientific concept of development.

Guarantee the research and production of weaponry. With high sense of responsibility and mission, the commission will make the research and production ability of the national defense industry advance to a new level. It will guarantee products quality and rate of progress in production and make contributions to the modernization of national defense.

Insisting on the principle "unification of civil and military factors; national defense industry relies on civil industry" and driving the defense industry used for civil purposes to a new level. Strengthen enterprise's innovation capability; improve their core competence and ability for sustainable development.

Adopt the "revive industry by talents" strategy; strengthen construction of talents team and advanced culture in the national defense industry.
