Putin urges govt to increase by 20% remuneration for servicemen
font size

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to increase by at least 20 percent the remuneration for servicemen, Itar-Tass reports Monday.

Putin focused attention on this category of population over an increase in tariffs and the enforcement of the law on monetisation of benefits. "Attention should be given to those servicemen who live in some regions where the transport fare is higher than compensations that they got," the president emphasized. "I instruct you to speed up the issuance of a relevant government's decree," Putin pointed out.

For his part, Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov noted that one-time money compensations would be increased up to 200 percent in some regions shortly. "The government will consider and adopt it on Thursday," Fradkov remarked.

"I bore it in mind for myself," Putin warned.
