Chinese, Thai FMs discuss tsunami relief work via telephoneChinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing exchanged views Wednesday with his Thai counterpart Surakiat Sathirathai over the telephone on issues concerning tsunami relief in the Indian Ocean areas. Surakiat said he appreciated China's rescue and assistance to the earthquake- and tsunami-hit countries. He also briefed Li on Thailand's urgent proposal of holding a ministerial-level meeting on the arrangement and regional cooperation of tsunami warning from Jan. 28 to 29 in Phuket in Thailand. Li noted that the Chinese government supports Thailand on holding the meeting, saying the Chinese leaders attach great importance to international and regional cooperation on the warning of vital natural disasters. Li said China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Thai side and all concerned parties and make continuing efforts to enhance the region's ability of disaster rescue and prevention.
