Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan paid visits Wednesday morning, the first day of the Spring Festival, to street sweepers on duty and migrant workers still toiling at Beijing's new subway construction sites.

He extended holiday greetings to workers on duty on behalf of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the StateCouncil, and expressed gratitude for their contribution to Beijing's clean environment and to the improvement of the city's transport system.

Zeng also urged the Beijing municipal government to guarantee traffic service, as well as power and gas supply and the smooth operation of the heating system during the week-long festival period.
