font size

Israeli Prime Minister ArielSharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas may meet again within aweek, local newspaper Ha'aretz reported on its online edition Wednesday.

The meeting could take place "in the coming days or a week" atSharon's Sycamore Ranch in Israel's southern Negev desert, saidSharon's senior advisor Ra'anan Gissin.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath confirmed the meetingcould take place within a week.

Sharon and Abbas held their first summit on Tuesday in Egypt'sRed Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, which succeeded in yielding aformal ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israel, a step muchanticipated for bringing the Middle East peace process back ontrack.

Although no specific date has been set for the second summit,Sharon and Abbas are keen to ensure that the outcome of Tuesday'ssummit is not merely lip service.
