US President George W. Bush on Wednesday reiterated its call for Iran to give up its nuclear program.
"The Iranians just need to know that the free world is working together to send a very clear message: Don't develop a nuclear weapon," Bush told reporters during a meeting with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski.
"And the reason we're sending that message is because Iran witha nuclear weapon would be a very destabilizing force in the world," Bush said.
Bush said that he looks forward to continuing cooperation with Europe over the Iranian nuclear issue, stressing that "It's important we speak with one voice."
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has raised American concerns about Iran during her trip to Europe. "I'm very pleased with the response that European leaders have given to Dr. Rice on this issue," Bush added.
During her visit to Britain last Friday, Rice said a US attack on Iran "is simply not on the agenda," despite Washington's continued criticism of Iran's human rights record and potential nuclear weapons.
Iran rejects American allegations, and insists its nuclear activities are peaceful and geared solely toward generating electric power.
