Indonesia receives over four billion US dollars in tsunami aid

Indonesia has received 40 trillion rupiah (around 4.4 billion US dollars) in humanitarian assistance for the tsunami ravaged provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra, a government official said in Jakarta on February 14.

"Donor countries have contributed some 39 trillion rupiah (4.3 billion dollars)," said Hanjari, who heads the audit team for humanitarian assistance in Aceh and North Sumatra.

The remaining fund is collected from domestic donors, he said, as quoted by Detikcom online news service.

Meanwhile, Supreme Audit Body (BPK) head Anwar Nasution said the government and the Asian Development Bank will host an international conference on financial aid audit with the presence of delegates from international organizations and major donor countries, such as the United States, Japan and Australia.

He said other tsunami-affected countries are also expected to send delegates in the conference that will be held in April.
