Arroyo vows to wipe out remnants of Abu Sayyaf
font size

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has vowed to wipe out the remnants of the Abu Sayyaf group, which has claimed responsibility for a series of bombings in Metro Manila and two southern cities on Monday night.

Arroyo said in a statement that the desperation of the enemy cannot be underestimated, even as it lies in the throes of defeat.

She expressed her condolence to the families of 11dead and over 100 injured victims, while also asking the local governments to quickly help the wounded and restore normality.

The Philippine military and police are now in hot pursuit of the suspects throughout the capital as well as the cities of General Santos and Davao.

They have announced a 500,000 peso or 9090 US dollar reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
