800,000-plus rural youth receive technical training

As is learned from the China Communist Youth League Central Committee on Feb. 20, the Youth League organizations at various levels across the country set off an upsurge of transferal employment for rural youth and created more than 200 job-training bases at and below provincial level last year, giving technical training to more than 800,000 rural youth and helping over 500,000 rural youth realize transferal employment.

It is reported that in 2004 the China Communist Youth League Central Committee comprehensively initiated the "Transferal Employment Project for Rural Youth" and put forward four transferal directions, guiding the youths to shift to modern agriculture, to secondary and tertiary industries, to cities and towns and to areas outside China. Related policy for this purpose have been formulated and put into practice.

In addition, the sci-tech training program for new-type farmers has been carried out in depth. The China Communist Youth League Central Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance jointly designated 249 counties for implementation of the program, allocated 50 million yuan and fulfilled the task of training 480,000 core rural residents. Meanwhile, the three institutions have further expanded the scale of the Association of Young Chinese Township Entrepreneurs, convened The Sixth Session of the Association, established a sub-association of young private entrepreneurs and a young rural brokers branch, and accepted 597 additional association members.

Meanwhile, the China Communist Youth League Central Committee cooperated with the and Ministry of Science and Technology last year in setting up 30 national youth spark demonstration counties, designated 50 national youth spark program demonstration and popularization bases, implemented and spread 100 spark sci-tech projects and trained 300,000 rural youth spark bellwethers.
