Pakistan capable to counter India's anti-missile system

Expressing concern over reports that India is trying to purchase Patriot anti-Missile System from the United States, Pakistani Defense Secretary Hamid Nawaz has said Pakistan is capable enough to counter India's anti-missile system.

"Pakistan will use suitable ways to counter it. There are many strategic and statistical ways to cope with it. It would be better that India should avoid acquisition of such weapons or system," the Associated Press of Pakistan Friday quoted the official as saying.

Pakistan was not making any effort to indulge in arm race with India, he said.

"Patriot Missile Defense System should not be provided to India. It is an attempt to neutralize our strategic surveillance and missile program. It will disturb the balance of entire region," he said.

Hamid said, "India was getting weapons from everywhere including Russia, the United States and Israel. New Delhi's defense budget or weapon acquisition budget has increased manifold."
