US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is due to visit Mexico on March 10, the US State Department announced Friday.

Mexico will be the first Latin American country that she visitssince she became American secretary of state last month.

During the visit, Rice will meet with Mexican business leaders and members of civil society, as well as with government officials.

"The secretary welcomes this opportunity to reaffirm the close bilateral relationship we enjoy with our southern neighbor," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said. Enditem
