Jamie Foxx snatched the best actor Oscar on Sunday for his portrayal of blind soul legend Ray Charles in the biopic "Ray."

Foxx, who made his acting debut only six years ago, had been widely expected to win to award for his portrayal of the US musician's life from a poor childhood to fame and fortune.
