Turkey calls for UN-led fight against terrorism
font size

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a UN-led fight against terrorism and an enhanced coordination between world countries, the semi-official Anatolia News Agency reported Saturday.

"We can't succeed in fighting against terrorism if we fight in national levels. All countries should establish a joint platform to fight against terrorism to get results," Erdogan, who returned from a summit on terrorism in Spain, told reporters.

"This fight should be pioneered by the United Nations," Erdogan added.

The International Summit on Democracy, Terrorism and Security was held in Madrid on March 8-11.

An action plan called "Madrid Agenda" was presented in the meeting with an aim of developing an efficient international cooperation mechanism for anti-terrorism combat.
