Pakistan supports China's anti-secession law
font size

Pakistan Monday reiterated its One China policy and expressed support for China's anti-secession law to prevent Taiwan's secession from China.

At a weekly press conference, Pakistani Foreign Office spokesman Jalil Abbas Jilani said Pakistan "appreciates and fully supports efforts made by the Chinese government for the reunification of Taiwan to the motherland" and considers the passing of the anti-secession law as part of these efforts.

He said Pakistan adheres to its One China policy and regards Taiwan as part of China and hopes that it will return to the motherland soon.

The National People's Congress, China's legislature, Monday passed the law which came into effect immediately after President Hu Jintao signed a presidential order to promulgate it later in the morning.
