Germany to settle 130,000 claims for property during Nazi era
font size

The German government said Monday it has received some 130,000 claims for return of properties seized during the Nazi era.

Among the applications, about 30,000 are for the return of companies and businesses and 102,000 for the return of land, the Federal Bureau for Unresolved Property Questions said in a statement.

"Investigation is extremely complicated because most seizures took place 70 years ago and only a few of the former owners are still alive," it said.

The applications relate exclusively to property in six eastern states of Germany, the statement said.
