More than a dozen countries around the world continued to express their support Tuesday for China's adoption of the Anti-Secession Law, intended to prevent the secession of Taiwan from China and clarify China's position on the Taiwan issue.
The Vietnamese government, in conformity with its consistent one-China policy, considers Taiwan as an inalienable part of the People's Republic of China, Vietnam' s Foreign Ministry spokesman Le Dung reaffirmed Wednesday.
Vietnam opposes the activities of "Taiwan independence" in whatever forms and fully supports the Chinese government's and people's efforts for national reunification and maintenance of stability across the Taiwan Straits, he added.
The government of Nepal said on Wednesday that it unequivocally supports China's anti-secession law.
"His Majesty's government extends its unequivocal support to the People's Republic of China for the anti-secession legislation enacted by the Chinese National People's Congress," the Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in a press statement.
Nepal believes that the legislation will contribute to achieving the goal of China's reunification, the statement said.
In Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday reaffirmed his government's full support for the law, calling it highly necessary to the cause of China's national reunification.
He said the law conforms to international norms and no foreign country has the right to interfere in the matter.
The prime minister said the law is of profound historic and realistic significance for China in realizing national reunification and shows the common will and strong resolve of the entire Chinese people including Taiwan compatriots.
"Cambodia firmly supports any action and measure that China takes on the Taiwan issue," he said.
In the Middle East, Syria also voiced on Wednesday its firm support to the newly adopted law.
"The anti-secession law ... stresses the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of China and safeguards the stability across the Taiwan Straits with an aim to achieve the peaceful reunification of China," Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Syria supports friendly China in taking such a wise policy and position," it added.
On Tuesday, Syria's Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said Syria fully understands the law and supports China's peaceful reunification.
In China's another close neighbor Myanamar, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday in a statement that the government supports the adoption of the law.
The document said Taiwan is part of China, and Myanmar will, as always, stick to the "one-China" principle and continue to support China's efforts in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On Tuesday, Albanian Vice Foreign Minister Luan Hajdaraga said that Albania fully understands and supports the newly adopted law and considers the Taiwan issue as China's internal affairs.
While meeting with Chinese ambassador Tian Changchun, Hajdaraga said Albania's position on the Taiwan question is persistent and well-known, that is, there is only one China and that is the People's Republic of China.
Also on Tuesday, Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Sameh said Egyptian government totally understands and support the passage of the law and believes that all sovereignties have the right to make law to safeguard unification and territorial integrity of the country.
The Taiwan issue is China's internal affairs and should be resolved by Chinese people without any foreign interference, Sameh said when meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Egypt.
Egypt will firmly stick to the one-China policy and looks forward to an early peaceful reunification of China, he added.
The Foreign Ministry of Laos on Tuesday backed the newly-adopted law, calling it China's natural right to safeguard its state sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In the statement, Laos voiced support for China's efforts to promote peaceful reunification and maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
In Kyrkyzstan, China's close neighbor in central Asia, the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday released a statement to support the adoption of the law.
The statement reiterates Kyrkyzstan's position on the Taiwan issue and supports the measures taken by China's central government in a bid to develop cross-Straits relations, maintain cross-Straits peace and fight the secessionist movement.
Kyrkyzstan will strictly abide by the obligations on the Taiwan issue according to the Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Kyrkyzstan and China, and supports China's right to safeguard its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unification, the statement said.
In Latin America, Cuba, Guyana and Saint Lucia have also expressed support for the law.
The government of Guyana said the law is to achieve China's peaceful reunification and to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and of the Asia-Pacific region.
Saint Lucia Prime Minister Kenny Anthony said his country understands China's efforts in achieving peaceful reunification and stands for the passage of the law.
He said Saint Lucia will firmly stick to the one-China policy and he believed China can achieve national reunification.
Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (parliament) fully supports China's adoption of the Anti-Secession Law and Taiwan should not be allowed to secede from China, the parliament's international relations committee said.
