font size

Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker and Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn vowed on Thursday to abide by the one-China policy.

The two leaders, whose country is holding the presidency of the European Union (EU), made the pledge when holding talks with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.

Juncker reiterated that Luxembourg won't change its position of adhering to the one-China policy, vowing to push forward the development of the relations between China and the EU.

Asselborn said adhering to the one-China policy constitutes the foundation for the relations between Luxembourg and China.

Li said China attaches importance to the unique role Luxembourg plays in the EU affairs as well as in the regional affairs.

The Chinese minister also called for concerted efforts to deepen friendly cooperation, so as to boost the all-around strategic partnership between China and the EU.

Li will fly to Italy on Friday morning to continue his European tour.
