Rabotnicki Kometal Skopje club said on Thursday that their Macedonia international goalkeeper Jorde Georgievski has tested positive for a banned substance, Reuters reported.
According to the Macedonian FA, this is the first positive doping case in the history of the Macedonian FA and the player could be banned for six to 12 months if the second test is positive.
Club director Dragan Tomovski said Georgievski's sample had shown traces of salbutamol, a stimulant which is commonly used to treat asthma.
"We received a notice from the Macedonian Football Association that Jorde Georgievski was positive after a regular doping test but we cannot comment further on that because he has asked for a second test," Tomovski said.
Georgievski has been ruled out of Macedonia's World Cup Group One qualifier against Romania on March 30 in Skopje despite being originally picked for the squad.
