Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Tuesday that the relationship between China and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has a good foundation and should be furthered on economy, trade and technology.
He made the remarks during a meeting with visiting DRC President Josef Kabila, saying China would like to cooperate with the DRC on minery resources exploration, telecommunication and infrastructure, and will continue to offer aid to the central African country.
Kabila said he has exchanged views with Chinese leaders on improving friendship and cooperation during his visit.
The DRC welcomes investment by Chinese companies, and will work with China to realize the cooperation agreements reached by the two countries, he said.
He reaffirmed the DRC adheres to the one-China policy, supports the Anti-Sessesion Law and hopes China will achieve reunification soon. Wen said he appreciated for it.
On the situation in the Great Lakes region, Wen said China hopes all parties would carry out the agreement of peace to settle the difference through dialogues and on the bases of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity. China will play positive role in this regard, Wen said.
Kabila said China has offered long-term aid to Africa, demonstrating the friendship between African and Chinese people. He voiced his hope that China could help promote peace and development in Africa.
