Democratic Republic of Congo expresses support to China's anti-secession law
font size

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Tuesday reaffirmed its stance on the one-China policy and expressed its support of China's anti-secession law.

DRC President Josef Kabila told Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo that his government remains firmly committed to the one-China policy and supports the anti-secession law passed by the Chinese National People's Congress, China's parliament.

He said he believed the law will help push forward China's cause of national unification.

Kabila briefed Wu on the DRC's peace process and economic reconstruction, saying that his country is moving to "a more stable situation," creating opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries.

Wu said China cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries and is willing to improve friendly exchanges with the DRC in all fields. He said he expects the two countries to expand political, economic and social cooperation for common development.

The Chinese top legislator also urged the parliaments of the two countries to enhance exchanges and borrow experiences in building democratic legal systems.

Kabila arrived in Shanghai on Sunday for a four-day working visit as guest of Chinese President Hu Jintao. This is his second visit to China after he assumed the presidency.
