The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said it would "actively promote" the settlement in the case of shoes confiscation from China's Wenzhou footwear exporters in Russia.
At a meeting for the case held Tuesday, a ministry spokesman said the MOC would "look into the case and strengthen the consultation with Russia, according to the relevant documents signed between the two countries, to achieve a good settlement of the issue."
Armed police raided a warehouse in a wholesale market in southern Moscow on Saturday and seized more than 100 containers of shoes worth some 80 million yuan (about 9.7 million US dollars). They accused Chinese merchants of lacking proper customs documents for their goods.
The shoes were owned by about 20 export businesses from Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Russia has expressed willingness to handle the issue with China under the established joint working mechanism on trade order, the spokesman said.
He said Chinese exporters in Russian business should "strengthen their self-discipline and pay the tariff according to the local laws and regulations."
