Experts offer advices for South-to-North water diversion project

To better serve the people along the South-to-North water diversion project (East line), Chinese Academy of Social Science, Ministry of Water Resources, China Meteorological Administration and Italian Ministry of Environment and Territory jointly launched "Comprehensive Management and Research Project on Sustainable Water Resources along South-to-North water diversion project (East line)".

The project aims at studying the project's influence on the regional environment, hydrology, soil, vegetation, climate economy as well as social development along the line, and working out a best solution to the problems. According to Li Ping, deputy director of Institute of Quantitative and Technological Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Science and a chief official with the project from Chinese side, the project will be completed by 2006.
