The State Forestry Administration and the Ministry of Public Security announced on Wednesday that a special campaign to crack down on acts violating forest resources would be launched nationwide from April 1 to June 15.
Lei Jiafu, deputy director-general of the State Forestry Administration, said the campaign is a fruit of the education to maintain the advanced nature of Party members in the Administration and the Public Security Ministry. It is an important theme practice aimed at solving prominent problems existing in the protection of forest resources. The key targets of the campaign are forest resource-violating acts by enterprises and institutions as well as governmental departments such as illegal occupation of woodland (wetland), cultivating wasteland by deforestation, unauthorized over-felling, illegal felling and denudation.
The State Forest Administration and Public Security Ministry required that local governments work hard to clean up major forest resource-violating cases that have remained unsolved since 2003.
