Japan unveils outline of postal reform bills
font size

Japanese government announced Monday an outline of bills to privatize Japan's postal system from April 2007, calling for fully privatizing postal savings and life insurance services in 10 years while attempting to achieve a soft landing for the process.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda unveiled the outline after it was finalized in a morning meeting of cabinet ministers concerned and then notified the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner New Komeito Party of the result.

The government aims to submit the bills to parliament by the end of this month after getting approval from the ruling coalition.
