Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said at a UNESCO meeting in Paris on Tuesday that terrorists are as bad as warmongers, either in Afghanistan or in the White House.

"War and terrorism have the same root. Both use violence to attain the same narrow objectives," Khatami said.

"Expansionism, occupation, war, terrorism -- all of that has its origins in the same mistaken vision ... in Afghanistan and in the White House too," said the president on a visit in Paris.

"I condemn war as I condemn terrorism. In both, people consider themselves at the center of the world and try to impose their views on the whole of humanity," he said.
