Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit on Monday underlined the necessity for all Iraqi factions to participate in the political process including the drafting of Iraq's permanent constitution in order to achieve security and stability in the war-torn country.
He made the remarks during a meeting with visiting US envoy Richard Jones, senior advisor to the State Secretary and coordinator for Iraq, the Egyptian official MENA news agency reported.
Jones praised Egypt for its help to achieve stability in Iraq, referring to the Egypt-sponsored conference of Iraqi neighbors and G-8 in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh last November. Jones also briefed the Egyptian side on Washington's vision toward peace, stability and reconstruction efforts in Iraq. Jones said he discussed what Egypt can help in organizing an international conference on Iraq, an initiative proposed by US President George W. Bush.
Jones left Cairo Monday evening for Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.
