A ceremony making the 90th founding anniversary of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA) was held in Beijing on April 12. The CPC Central Committee and State Council sent congratulatory letters to the CMA. Enthusiasm in all aspects must be fully mobilized to carry forward reform and development of China's health undertaking, said China's vice premier Wu Yi in her speech.

The congratulatory letter requested the CMA and medical professionals to vigorously carry out research in medical science and technology, strive to master exquisite medical techniques, to abide by lofty medical ethics in work, provide better service for people's health, to make bigger contribution to revival of Chinese medical undertaking and the objective of building a well-off society in an all-round way.

Wu Yi extended congratulations to the researchers and medical workers on behalf of the State Council. Gathering a large group of prominent experts and uniting numerous medical workers, the CMA has done a great deal for developing China's medical cause and boosting socialist modernization construction, said Wu.

The CMA should take the Scientific Development Concept as guidance, maintain and carry forward fine traditions, actively carry out work, make innovations in working mechanism, expand room for further development, exert the advantages of experts and conduct academic activities of high level and high quality, Wu Yi requested.

Founded in 1915, the CMA has developed into an important academic body with 430,000 members and 82 branches that enjoy very high reputation in the circle of medicine.
