Nearly 80 school children from two schools in Thailand's southern resort province of Krabi were rushed to hospital late Tuesday night after taking poisonous food, the Thai News Agency reported Wednesday.
The students, aged 6-15, were then hospitalized, as they suffered from a severe stomachache with vomit and running stomach, Bancha Kathong, director of Aow Luek Hospital, was quoted as saying.
"It's likely that the students took bacteria-contaminated food or water during their dinner," he said.
Most of the students were discharged from the hospital Wednesday early morning after having their bowels emptied, while the rest 18 were discharged later Wednesday, said Bancha.
"The students were all safe and were discharged from the hospital," he added.
An official investigation on the incident was on progress, with samples of the suspected food and water were being inspected by medical experts, the news agency said.
