Zimbabwean President Mugabe Friday night appointed a new-look Cabinet with five newcomers, two former ministers bouncing back, and incumbents.

Among the newly appointed, Zimbabwe's former ambassador to Britain Simbarashe Mumbengegwi took over from Stan Mudenge as foreign affairs minister.

Mumbengegwi is one of the 12 non-constituency members of parliament appointed by Mugabe on Monday.

Another former diplomat, Tichaona Jokonya, who was Zimbabwe's permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, took over the ministry of information and publicity.

Two former Cabinet Ministers who bounced back are Emmerson Mnangagwa and Oppah Muchinguri.

Mnangagwa, who is a former minister of justice, will head the newly-created ministry of rural housing and social amenities.

Another former cabinet minister Muchinguri was appointed minister of women affairs, gender and community development.

Mugabe on Friday night described the Cabinet as a "development cabinet" to give impetus to the lackluster economy.

"This is a development cabinet. We are setting ourselves up, preparing for an effective economic turnaround. So it's going to be busier than the war cabinet," said Mugabe.
