28 kinds of ancient characters discovered in Xinjiang

A total of 28 kinds of ancient characters have been discovered among the excavated cultural relics in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and they are rare in their quantity and diversified content.

According to the Museum of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, three major character systems, namely Han, Aramaic and Bragmi, divided into 19 languages and 28 characters, have been discovered in the cultural relics in the region.

The characters, mainly seen in a great amount of wooden slips, paper scrolls as well as stone inscriptions, cover a variety of fields such as politics, economics, culture and religion.
