More research pledged in weather modification work
font size

China must strengthen scientific research and technological development in weather modification work, Xu Xiaofeng, deputy head of China Meteorological Administration stressed Wednesday.

It has been 47 years since China began to conduct organized weather modification work. From 1995 to 2004, a total fund of 2.4 billion yuan had been put into organizations of all levels in this field. Our work has played an important role in easing water resources shortage, said Xu, but problems remain, such as low sci-tech level and the lack of long-term plan and coordination. The country would enhance studies on basic theories and technological application, and intensify efforts on standing out questions, Xu said.
