Cuban communist party leader Raul Castro Ruz left Shanghai Friday morning, concluding his official visit to China.
The Cuban leader arrived in Shanghai Wednesday morning from Beijing, where he met Chinese leaders Hu Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, and Zeng Qinghong. They exchanged views on strengthening cooperation and ties between the two countries.
In Beijing, he also paid homage to the remains of Chairman Mao Zedong and presented a wreath at the Monument to the People's Heroes. He also visited a hi-tech development zone.
While staying in Shanghai, Raul Castro met Chen Liangyu, party chief of the metropolis. They discussed the prospects for future cooperation in bio-pharmaceutics and tourism between Shanghai and localities in Cuba.
The Cuban leader also toured a few scenic sites and a residential community in Shanghai.
Raul Castro serves as second secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, first vice-president of the Council of State and also first vice-president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba.
He started his official visit to China on Sunday, the second since 1997.
