font size

The State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) on Wednesday issued five new standards on pollutants emitted by motor vehicles.

The five new standards will be imposed on pollutant emissions of light and heavy-duty vehicles and noise pollution of motorcycles. Among them III emission standard of light vehicles will be implemented nationwide from July 1, 2007 and IV standard from July 1, 2010 while the implementation of other standards will start this year.

Officials with the SEPA said the III and IV standards on light vehicles would be carried out in Beijing first.
