James Wolfensohn, special envoy of the Mideast quartet, is to arrive here later on Sunday to meet with Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, Palestinian official sources said.
The meeting will be held at the Palestinian cabinet's headquarters in Ramallah, focusing on the latest efforts aimed at reviving the stalled Mideast peace process as well as the Palestinian National Authority's preparations for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the sources said.
Wolfensohn, outgoing head of the World Bank, was newly appointed as the special envoy of the quartet committee grouping the European Union, Russia, the United Nations and the United States.
He is in the region to coordinate efforts in the Israeli settlement evacuation this summer.
On his first Mideast tour after the appointment, Wolfensohn said he was on "a fact-finding mission" to learn about the positions of the different parties concerned.
On Saturday night, Wolfensohn met with Israeli Deputy Premier Shimon Perez in Tel Aviv.
