Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is facing assassination threat in jail, the Arabic-language newspaper Al arab Al yawm reported on Monday.
A man with a mission to commit the assassination is training in Iran, Ziad al-Khasawneh, the chief lawyer of Saddam's legal team, was quoted by the daily as saying.
He stressed that the secret location where Saddam was held is without any security now, demanding to transfer him to another safe place under the UN supervision.
The chief lawyer asked US forces, who are detaining Saddam, not to ignore any possible hurt to Saddam.
The Amman-based legal team includes at least 22 leading lawyers and 1,500 volunteers. It urged the international communities to pay attention to Saddam's safety.
Saddam has been reportedly in healthy condition. The former Iraqi president was captured by US forces in December 2003.
