PNA to change ambassadors all over worldThe Palestinian National Authority (PNA) intends to make changes among its ambassadors all over the world, a foreign ministry official revealed Tuesday. The Director General of the ministry Abdullah Abdullah told the "Voice of Palestine" radio that the PNA is also intending to make modifications into the structure of the Palestinian embassies. He added that the PNA is in the phase of preparing for establishing a Palestinian state and the PNA will have an official accreditation and diplomatic exchange. "The PNA needs re-preparations on the basis of efficiency, needs, necessity and productivity," said Abdullah. Meanwhile, Palestinian Foreign Minister Nasser al Qedwa will initiate some changes among the ambassadors and send those who are over 60 to retirement, foreign ministry sources said. Al Qedwa will also limit the term of the ambassadors in certain countries to four years only instead of the present open-term policy, said the sources. Abdullah confirmed that al Qedwa has invited Palestinian ambassadors abroad to come to the West Bank city of Ramallah for a meeting on May 4, which majority of the ambassadors must attend except for those who have important engagements. He said that the law of the diplomatic corps would be prepared, "as everyone would know his fields and the limits of his missions to be committed to in terms of the period of the duty and the kind of the demanded qualifications." |
