Schroeder says sorry to Russian people

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has apologized to the Russian people for the enormous losses suffered by Russia during World War.

In his article to Russian newspaper, Komsomol Pravda, Schroeder said Germany apologized to Russian people who suffered hardships from the treacherous war waged by the Nazis Germany, and asked for their forgiveness.

Schroeder is schedule to attend Monday's ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.

He acknowledged President Putin's invitation to participate in the celebration of the Great Victory as "the evidence of trust in German people."
